you need to cut out the cards alone the lines, and mix them up with two categories per set to help your child learn about sorting. Below are the steps to work on these cards:

  1. place two categories at a time, for example, animals vs food, and mixed up the picture cards of these two categories
  2. have your child to look each card you give him/her, and place the card in the right category
  3. if you child place the card in the wrong one, prompt him/her with non-verbal cues, like pointing to the word “animal” or “food”
  4. once your child masters the two categories, place a one set of cards to help the child generalize the skill
